Trump Releases Powerful Video Highlighting US-Greenland Bond After WWII Nazi Attack

Trump Releases Powerful Video Highlighting US-Greenland Bond After WWII Nazi Attack

On the same day Vice President JD Vance visited Greenland, President Donald Trump shared a stirring 90-second video that underscores the strong historical bond between the United States and Greenland. The video highlights how a Nazi U-boat torpedoed the US Army Transport Dorchester on February 3, 1943, a tragic incident that claimed hundreds of lives in the icy Atlantic and is famously remembered for the heroic sacrifice of four Army chaplains.

A Legacy of Bravery and Sacrifice

The video’s narration recalls the cold, silent tundra where a bond was forged—not through treaties or trade, but through blood and bravery. It pays tribute to the valiant actions of chaplains George L. Fox, John P. Washington, Clark V. Poling, and Alexander D. Goode, who gave up their life vests to save their comrades. Their sacrifice, which has been commemorated with Purple Hearts, Distinguished Service Crosses, and the specially created Four Chaplains' Medal, remains a powerful symbol of the commitment to freedom.

A Call for Strategic Partnership

Trump’s video is not just a historical recount—it makes a case for a renewed strategic alliance with Greenland. Amid growing concerns over Russian aggression and Chinese expansion in the Arctic, the video argues that Greenland’s security is vital to international peace. “In the cold silence of the tundra, a bond was born,” the narrator intones, urging that the sacrifices of the past should inspire a united front for the future.

Vice President JD Vance, who also shared the video on X, reiterated the message during his visit to Pituffik Space Base, emphasizing that Denmark has not done enough to protect Greenland. He suggested that, through self-determination, Greenlanders might choose independence from Denmark, paving the way for direct conversations with the United States.

Trump’s Continued Pursuit of Greenland

Trump doubled down on his long-standing goal of incorporating Greenland into the US sphere of influence. “If you look at Greenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the place, and we're not going to be able to do that,” he declared. According to Trump, the United States cannot rely on Denmark or any other nation to secure this crucial region. Instead, he stressed that America must take the initiative, not just for its own peace, but for world peace and international security.

A Powerful Visual Message

Produced by Securing American Greatness—a non-profit formed during the 2024 presidential campaign to support Trump—the video weaves historical footage with stunning landscape images of Greenland. It reminds viewers that, during World War II, nearly 1,000 service members, civilians, and crew carried hope and duty into one of the most dangerous voyages of the war. Now, with the Arctic under new threat, the video argues that it is time to stand together again.
