Belgian Football Star Nainggolan Arrested in Cocaine Investigation

Nainggolan: Belgian Football Star Detained in Cocaine Investigation

Belgian footballer Radja Nainggolan, 36, has been detained as part of an extensive investigation into cocaine trafficking.

The former international player was among several individuals apprehended during a series of police raids conducted across Belgium on Monday morning.

According to a statement from the Brussels prosecutor's office, the investigation focuses on "alleged cocaine imports from South America to Europe through the port of Antwerp, and its subsequent distribution within Belgium."

Further details of the case remain undisclosed to the public.

The arrest comes less than a week after Nainggolan announced his return to professional football by signing with Lokeren, a club in Belgium's second division. He marked his comeback with a goal during his debut, helping his team secure a 1-1 draw against K. Lierse.

Born in Antwerp, Nainggolan enjoyed a successful career in Italy, representing prominent clubs like Roma and Inter Milan. He also earned 30 caps for the Belgium national team between 2009 and 2018.
