15 Things to Know Before Visiting the Sphere in Las Vegas

What You Need to Know for the Ultimate Concert Experience at This Groundbreaking Venue

The Sphere in Las Vegas is unlike any concert venue in the world. With its futuristic visuals, 160,000-square-foot immersive LED screen, and game-changing acoustics, it’s more than just a place to see a show—it’s an experience. And if you're lucky enough to catch a performance like Dead & Company, it’s a night you won’t soon forget.

But there are a few things I wish I had known before stepping inside this extraordinary venue. Whether you're planning your first visit or returning for another round, here are 15 key tips to make the most of your night at the Sphere.

1. Expect to Walk—a Lot

Even with rideshare or public transit, you’ll still need to walk a fair distance to reach the entrance. The Sphere is accessible from The Venetian and the Wynn, but prepare for long walkways and crowded paths.

2. Comfortable Shoes Are Non-Negotiable

I logged more than 13,000 steps on the day of the show. Skip the new boots and opt for well-worn sneakers or flats.

3. Parking Is Limited and Pricey

Parking at the Sphere starts at $38. More affordable alternatives include Wynn (free for up to 4 hours) or The Venetian ($15 for four hours). Both are within walking distance.

4. Book Tickets Early

The Sphere sells out quickly, especially for big-name acts. Booking last-minute means limited options—and limited views.

5. Avoid Obstructed Views in Lower Sections

In the 100s, stay below Row 30. Higher rows may have views blocked by the overhang. The 200, 300, and 400 levels offer better sightlines, or consider the floor for full immersion.

6. The Floor Is High-Energy and Built for Dancing

Floor access requires a wristband and ticket—no exceptions. It’s a high-energy zone with unbeatable views and plenty of room to move.

7. Bring a Light Jacket

The interior can run cold. A hoodie or light jacket will make your experience more comfortable.

8. Outside Food and Drinks Are Not Allowed

Only empty, soft plastic bottles are permitted. Water refill stations are available inside, but plan to eat before the show.

9. Expect Limited (and Expensive) Concessions

Food and beverage prices are steep. Two small water bottles set me back $15. Options are basic, so it’s best to dine ahead of time.

10. Know the Venue's Bag Policy

Only small bags—maximum 6” x 6” x 2”—are permitted. No backpacks or large purses. Check the rules in advance to avoid making an unnecessary trip back to your hotel.

11. Use Express Kiosks for Faster Service

Skip the concession lines and head straight to the express kiosks for quicker drink and snack service.

12. Prepare for Tight Seats and a Steep Incline

Upper-level seats are narrow and set at a sharp angle. If you’re tall, claustrophobic, or prefer extra legroom, opt for lower sections or aisle seats.

13. Vertigo Alert: Stick to Lower Levels if Heights Bother You

The steep layout of the upper levels can be unsettling for those with a fear of heights. Consider staying closer to the floor for peace of mind.

14. The Sound Is Powerful

The Sphere’s sound system is immersive and loud. While spectacular, it may overwhelm sensitive ears. Pack earplugs just in case.

15. Crowds Are Part of the Experience

The Sphere accommodates over 18,000 people, so expect long lines for restrooms, security, and concessions. Patience—and planning—ahead will serve you well.

Final Thoughts: One-of-a-Kind and Worth the Hype

Despite the logistics, The Sphere delivers an unforgettable experience. The sound, the visuals, the architecture—it’s sensory overload in the best possible way. My first time inside was with Dead & Company, and it was nothing short of magical. John Mayer’s performance was electrifying, the atmosphere was electric, and the entire venue felt like a space-age concert dreamscape.

For live music fans, the Sphere isn’t just another stop on the tour—it’s the future of concerts.

And to the Sphere team: if you’re reading this, I’d gladly return for “What It’s Like to Sit in the Best Seats at the Sphere.” Just say the word—I’ll bring the dancing shoes.
