Dead by Daylight 9th Anniversary Adds FNAF Springtrap and The Witcher Outfits

Dead by Daylight Celebrates 9th Anniversary With Five Nights at Freddy’s & The Witcher Crossovers

Springtrap becomes the next Killer, Geralt’s outfit comes to Vittorio Toscano, and a Choose Your Own Adventure chapter is on the way.

Celebrating Nine Years of Horror: New Killers, Skins, and Community Projects

Dead by Daylight is marking its ninth anniversary with two major pop culture collaborations and several exciting updates—including the addition of Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy’s and a Legendary Outfit inspired by Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series.

Unveiled during Behaviour Interactive’s anniversary broadcast at PAX East, these collaborations headline a year packed with new content, quality-of-life improvements, and community engagement.

Springtrap Joins as the Next Killer

For the first time in any game, Five Nights at Freddy’s villain Springtrap will be a playable Killer in Dead by Daylight.

Behaviour confirmed that Springtrap will debut in the game’s next anniversary chapter, which will also introduce a new map based on the iconic Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While gameplay mechanics are still under wraps, a special Legendary Outfit modeled after the Yellow Rabbit from the recent FNAF film will be included. This skin features the likeness and voice of actor Matthew Lillard, who portrayed William Afton in the movie.

“This is a huge moment for FNAF fans,” said Behaviour during the stream. “Springtrap’s first appearance as a playable Killer is something we know the community’s been asking for.”

The Witcher Arrives With Legendary Looks

On June 3, Dead by Daylight will also debut a Witcher-themed cosmetics collection, bringing outfits based on the beloved RPG franchise to life.

Key highlights include:

  • Geralt of Rivia: Legendary Outfit for Survivor Vittorio Toscano, complete with new lobby animations and original voice lines from Doug Cockle, Geralt’s original voice actor.

  • Additional cosmetics inspired by Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin will also be available.

“Our favorite of the collection is, of course, Geralt’s Legendary Outfit,” said product director Rose Li. “We’ve packed in some incredible detail, and Doug Cockle’s voice work really elevates the experience.”

Major Gameplay Improvements Coming Soon

Behaviour Interactive also reaffirmed its commitment to addressing player feedback and rolling out key quality-of-life updates. Among the improvements announced:

  • Expanded custom matches with more spectator slots

  • Ability to play matches while in event queues

  • Rebalancing of maps and key items

  • Enhanced anti-cheat measures

  • Targeted efforts to reduce camping, slugging, and tunneling behaviors

The studio previously confirmed a temporary delay of upcoming patches to prioritize these refinements.

Community-Driven Chapter Launching in 2026

In a bold new initiative, Behaviour is planning a community-designed chapter set to launch in 2026. This original content will include a new Killer and Survivor, with player polls determining major design elements, in a Choose Your Own Adventure-style development process.

“This is a love letter to our players,” said Behaviour. “We want to build something together from the ground up.”

Dead by Daylight’s Ongoing Legacy

Now in its ninth year, Dead by Daylight continues to thrive with consistent content drops, licensing collaborations, and strong community support. This anniversary follows the recent announcement of an expansion for the Dead by Daylight board game, bringing even more Killers and Survivors into the tabletop realm.

With Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Witcher now part of its ever-growing horror multiverse, Dead by Daylight shows no signs of slowing down.
