Maika Sivo: Leeds Rhinos Star Signing Ruled Out for Super League Season with ACL Injury | Rugby

Maika Sivo Ruled Out for Super League Season with ACL Injury

Leeds Rhinos’ marquee signing for 2025, Maika Sivo, has been ruled out for the entire Super League season after suffering an ACL injury during a pre-season friendly against Wigan Warriors.

The 31-year-old winger sustained the injury in the first half of Leeds' 22-4 victory over Wigan on Sunday. Signed on a three-year deal from NRL side Parramatta Eels, Sivo will now undergo surgery and begin his rehabilitation.

Head Coach Brad Arthur’s Statement
"Our first thoughts are with Maika, and we will all rally around him and his family," said Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur. "Our medical team will ensure he gets the best possible treatment, and I’m confident Maika will approach his recovery with the determination we know he has."

Sporting Director Ian Blease Added:
"This is a tough blow for Maika and for us as a club. We were excited to see his impact in Super League, but we’ll have to wait for that. In the meantime, we’ll evaluate our squad options, and this could open the door for some of our outstanding young players to step up."

2025 Super League Key Dates

  • February 13-16: Round 1 season kickoff.
  • March 1: Wigan Warriors vs. Warrington Wolves in Las Vegas.
  • April 17-19: Round 8 – Rivals Round.
  • May 3-4: Magic Round (St James’ Park, Newcastle).
  • October 11: Grand Final (Old Trafford).

Despite the setback, Leeds Rhinos are preparing to start the new Super League season, with their first match scheduled for February 13-16. Fans will be watching closely to see how the team adapts in Sivo’s absence.
